ضعیفهzaeefeh’ derogatory term, still/sometimes/rarely used to refer to a woman.

ضعیفه; ‘the weak’ in Persian, comes from the genderless adjective ضعيف, ‘zaeef’; weak

which is derived from Arabic.

It's important to note that the Persian languauge does not assign gender to nouns, adjectives

or verbs and the language construction and its grammar is gender neutral.

Over the years, Hedieh Anvari's creative practice has been concerned (directly & indirectly)

with the oscillating pendulum between the weak and the strong and the seemingly

stagnant position of the object and the subject.
